The law has faced many criticism from members of Russia's political and cultural elite, many of whom argue the bill amounts to playing politics with the destiny of thousands of children who live in the country's orphanages with little hope of being adopted by Russians.
The State Department said Americans have adopted more than 60,000 Russian children since 1992.
Laura Jean with her husband adopted 2- year old girl from Russia. They are the lucky ones although they had to wait 14 months fearing they would never be able to bring their child home.Now 46 American families are stuck in nightmare of waiting for their children. Now, when Russia banned Americans from adopting Russian orphans those children have nothing more than a broken promise.Says Laura Jean.
